Local facilities

Supermarkets/Deli

Pantry - this lovely deli style shop sells a variety of international and local
delicacies. There is also a lovely cafe next door where you can sample beautiful cakes and Balinese sweet treats.

Popular - closest supermarket to the villa - a 10 minute cycle or 5 minutes in a taxi. A wide variety of local and international products. There is also an ATM at the store.

On request you can provide Mrs Gusti with a kitty of money and she can shop for meals. We normally ask her to prepare a fruit platter, tea/coffee, granola, yoghurt and pastries for breakfast and she is happy to help.

Convenience stores
There are plenty of convenience stores around, many of which have ATMS inside.

Alcohol
There is very high tax on all imported alcohol in Indonesia. Local beer is great and easily available. Duty free can be bought in advance. If you wish to purchase wine during your stay we recommend the Wine shop in Sanur. The local wines are always improving and you can get hold of a reasonable white - best drunk icy cold!

Medical / Health Support

were It is highly recommended that you take on private travel insurance whilst on holiday in Bali. However there is plenty of support should you require it during your stay.

Hospitals
Our closest hospital is the RS Bali Mandara
You can also use the BIMC
Both have a good reputation and English speaking Doctors. We have used them for broken ankles, high fevers, split lips and always felt safe and well.
There are a number of Pharmacies that will do both natural and medical medicines. The closest is a Guardian

Doctors
We do not have a recommended DR locally, however there are a number of clinics on the road through Sanur. They can refer you to the hospital or provide basic care. For any major illness or concerns please go directly to the Hospital.

Mosquitos
There are lots of mossies in Bali- we highly recommend you take precautions against being bitten. There are plenty of mosquito coils in the villa for use outside. If you close all doors at about 4pm you should not have an issues in the rooms at night. The villa is Eco sprayed weekly on a Monday morning. Dengue is present in Bali and if you think you may be infected please seek urgent medical assistance from the local hospital.

Shopping

There is so much shopping to be done here. From bags, t-shirts to art and jewellery. Bargaining is common on the more local shops - expect to pay approx. Rp100k for a pair of the cotton Bali trousers. We tend to bargain a wee bit but more often than not once we start shopping.

If you want to go major furniture shopping we recommend researching online then hiring a driver for the day :)

Transport

We trust Mr Gusti and use him for all our longer trips and shopping trips. (+62 (0)8123957047)

You can hire Blue Bird Taxis and make sure they use the metre - it is a minimum Rp30K per trip from our place.  (Bluebird (Regular Taxi). (021) 79171234)

You can also download and use the GRAB app. This is working very well.
